New Medical Treatment Line for Visayas Ops

A new healthcare waste treatment line is planned to be installed in Isabel, Leyte as part of CEMSI’s environmental service expansion in the region. This will have a capacity of 15,000 cu.m per day to handle the disinfection and treatment of all medical related wastes. This facility aims to address the growing healthcare waste problem from Regions VI, VII and VIII.

Two years ago, various medical wastes were indiscriminately disposed in the open archipelagic sea contaminating not just the water but also the valuable aquatic food resource in the region. This new environmental innovation will address the problem of improper hazwaste disposal. Last 2 February 2022, a public scoping activity was held to present the technology with the community stakeholders. It was attended by the representatives from LIDE, Barangay Libertad, the Sanitation Unit, SB Sangguniang Bayan Secretary and MENRO of LGU-Isabel.

Cleanaway Philippines, Inc. (CPI), located in Leyte Industrial Development Estate (LIDE), is a CEMSI affiliate in the Visayas which started its operations in 2013. Similar to the operations in its Cavite and Tarlac plants, the Leyte Plant also operates an integrated waste management system covering transportation, collection, storage, treatment and disposal of hazardous wastes.

DENR Central and Regional Joint Visit at CPI

Isabel, Leyte – A joint visit conducted by the DENR Central office and the EMB Region VIII was held yesterday, 20 October at the Cleanaway Philippines, Inc. (CPI) treatment plant. Site inspection and improvements were part of the fruitful discussion led by the Hazardous Waste Management Section Chief of DENR Central, Engr. Geri-Geronimo R. Sañez. The new Cleanclave system is the first medical waste treatment facility in the Leyte-Samar region. It encourages medical facilities to opt for a more sustainable treatment program. CPI collaborates with national and regional agencies on how to further improve its operation and services in hazardous waste management. This is an assurance to all our clients that we do it the right way.

Isabel, Leyte – Cleanaway Philippines, Incorporated (CPI) recently opened its healthcare waste treatment facility at Leyte Industrial Development Estate in Isabel, Leyte. The first of its kind in the region, the new Cleanclave System will operate this Q3 of 2022 to cater to the growing medical waste demand in the Leyte-Samar region. Opened in 2013, CPI has grown its hazardous waste services over the years. Affiliated with the Cleanway Environmental Management Solutions, Inc. (CEMSI) in Cavite and Tarlac, CPI will further its mission in hazardous waste management to offer solutions for wider hazardous waste acceptance as approved by the DENR-EMB. Attending the event are the local Sangguniang Bayan Members of Isabel and its Vice Mayor Hon. Adam Fuentes, representing the newly elected Mayor, Hon. Edgrado Cordeno. Officials of DENR-EMB Region VIII graced the event with outgoing Regional Director, Engr. Reynaldo Barra and current Regional Director Martin Jose Despi. CPI and CEMSI are part of the Environmental Division of The Herma Group.

Cleanaway Philippines, Inc. (CPI) in Isabel, Leyte joined the event organized by the EMB Region VIII in Tacloban City for the annual gathering for the DENR Environment Month this June 2022. The event venue was filled with environmental artworks sending messages of conservation and preservation. This is participated by entries from the KalikasART program in Leyte Province from different schools and organizations. Select private companies were also invited to showcase their Best Environmental Management Practices. CPI was among the chosen partners as we will open the first healthcare waste treatment facility in the province. A Cleanclave Treatment System will operate this Q3 of 2022 to address the growing medical waste treatment demand of the region. With the COVID-19 pandemic still in our midst, national agencies and local government units are tirelessly finding solutions to address the infectious waste problem. Through Cleanway’s treatment plants and affiliates across the archipelago, we can be part of the waste solution.
