Hugging trees on Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day 2024 – Spread love! Hug a Tree! Express your love for the environment! Here are some of our employees hugging the oldest tree they can find inside the CEMSI/CPI Treatment Plants. In CEMSI Cavite, employees hug the tallest Narra tree they can find. Its scientific name is Pterocarpus indicus and commonly known as the Rosewood. The tree has been existing even before the construction of the main plant in 2004. In CPI, our Leyte team has chosen the giant Acacia. Also known as the Philippine Wattle, it’s scientific name is Acacia confusa. This is located right in the middle of the 5.5 hectare facility. While in our CEMSI North Plant in Tarlac has chosen to hug the two Lapnis trees or the Broussonetia papyrifera. Commonly known as the Paper Mulberry, this is native to Asia but propagated in the Philippines only in 1935 for reforestation purposes and source of fiber.
