CEMSI/CPI – The Environmental Division of the Herma Group met last Monday, 26 February for a town hall meeting concerning the directives and challenges for the upcoming year. The Cavite personnel, along with Tarlac and Leyte plants gathered that day while others participated via online conferences. From HR concerns to operations cases, employees were oriented on management’s thrusts for 2024. Special performance awards were given to those who excelled in their targets. They are recognized for their commitment and dedication to the Herma Group’s Corporate Core Values of Excellence, Enterprise, Integrity, Respect for the Individual, and Teamwork. All these for keeping the spirit of ONE CEMSI alive!

Hugging trees on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day 2024 – Spread love! Hug a Tree! Express your love for the environment! Here are some of our employees hugging the oldest tree they can find inside the CEMSI/CPI Treatment Plants. In CEMSI Cavite, employees hug the tallest Narra tree they can find. Its scientific name is Pterocarpus indicus and commonly known as the Rosewood. The tree has been existing even before the construction of the main plant in 2004. In CPI, our Leyte team has chosen the giant Acacia. Also known as the Philippine Wattle, it’s scientific name is Acacia confusa. This is located right in the middle of the 5.5 hectare facility. While in our CEMSI North Plant in Tarlac has chosen to hug the two Lapnis trees or the Broussonetia papyrifera. Commonly known as the Paper Mulberry, this is native to Asia but propagated in the Philippines only in 1935 for reforestation purposes and source of fiber.

DepEd Stakeholders Summit 2024 Award

Silang, Cavite- The Cavite Division of the Department of Education recognizes Cleanway Environmental Management Solutions, Inc. as one of its Top 25 Stakeholders in education and community building. Held in the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS), the Agapay 2024 gathered various stakeholders and recognized projects in their respective localities. Cleanway’s efforts for Maguyam Elementary School is part of its 15-year community sustainability program. Since 2008, the school has been a partner of its corporate social responsibility projects that range from school material assistance, construction and cleaning material donations, equipment and mobile phone donations, and implementation of environmental education programs.

This year is also the association’s 25th Year Anniversary celebrated with great pomp at Okada Manila. This is the largest gathering of PCOs since most industries are in the region. Cleanway is this year’s Platinum Sponsor and a recognized pioneering institutional member of PCAPI-IVA. For decades, both have been active partners in environmental education campaigns, raising the awareness of PCOs on compliance and environmental projection. Silang, Cavite – Congratulations to the Cleanway Internship Batch 2023. Ten students from Adamson University, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, and Cavite State University-Main Campus finished their required internship hours in the premier hazardous waste treatment plant in the country. Students with academic backgrounds in chemical engineering, chemistry, microbiology, and sanitary engineering are prioritized in the program to be engaged in laboratory work, research, and actual facilitation of wastewater treatment. Wishing you the best in your studies!

PCAPI National recognizes Cleanway's support
Pasay City, NCR – Cleanway joined PCAPI National as it celebrated its 43 years in a grand National Annual Convention and General Assembly held last April 19-20, 2023 at Sheraton Manila Hotel, Pasay City. With the theme: “TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF PCOs TOWARDS ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY BEYOND COVID-19”, pollution control officers from the industrial and medical field gathered for the thematic sessions on Air, Water, Solid Waste, Chemical Management and Alternative Energy. Cleanway was recognized as a Platinum Sponsor for this year’s event. As an institutional member of the PCAPI, the company is committed in its support to the programs and advocacies of the organization as we offer our fully-integrated services and innovative technologies to protect our environment. CEMSI, CPI join EARTH HOUR 2023

Cleanway Earth Hour 2023
Manila, Philippines – In our second year, Cleanway Environmental Management Solutions Inc. and Cleanaway Philippines Inc. will simultaneously shut down its electricity for Earth Hour 2023. The participating treatment plant in South Luzon is located Maguyam Silang, Province of Cavite. This 3.3 hectares facility is the main plant and the largest facility nearest to Manila. Another plant in the island of Luzon is located in Cutcut II Capas, Province of Tarlac. Established in 2019, the North Plant is a 2.98 hectares catering to industrial and medical facilities in Central and Northern Luzon. Finally, the 5-hectare treatment plant located in Libertad Isabel, Province of Leyte is in the heart of Visayas serving the industrial and medical needs of the region and its adjacent communities. All three plants will participate in Earth Hour 2023 on March 25, Saturday at 8:30 in the evening. Watch out for our Facebook Live on this date. https://www.facebook.com/cleanway.com.ph/ Our participation in Earth Hour 2023 is not just symbolic of our environmental concern, Cleanway is serious in its business and mission to further serve the country’s industries and medical facilities to promote environmental protection and be compliant with our environmental laws. The companies will also relaunch their sustainability campaign on plastic segregation to collect the growing volume of plastic waste incurred from home deliveries and the packaging of online shopping. As an environmental management company, we need to make sure that our employees practice this at home.

Cleanway Environmental Management Solutions, Inc. and Cleanaway Philippines, Inc. supported the 6th Philippine Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Conference and the 3rd International Conference on Circular-Economy at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City last December 1 to 2, 2022. The conference is an annual gathering of industry players, innovators, and researchers tackling innovations and best practices on waste management. This is the third time the environmental division of the Herma Group joined the event in support of the cause of the DENR, United Nations Environment Program, ASEAN UN/SEED-NET, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the local conference convenor, Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation.

Mission for More Mangroves

CEMSI Mangrove Planting
Lian, Batangas – As part of its annual commitment to the community, Herma Group with its subsidiaries, Herma Corporation, Herma Shipping and Transport Corporation, Flagship Petroleum Carriers, and Cleanway Environmental Management Solutions Inc. started to add 3000 more seedlings in an area allocated for mangroves southwest of Manila. Every year, the group of companies joins together in this environmental mission. With this year’s theme, Puno ng Pag-ibig para sa Kalikasan, officers and employees get their hands dirty as they planted love and hope for nature supporting the rich biodiversity in Sitio Kayreyna, Barangay Lumaniag. The location is a protected mangrove area under the DENR and the LGU of Lian. Since 2018, countless mangroves were planted by academic institutions and private companies. Environmental experts and local people help in maintaining and preserving the shoreline now slowly covered in lush marine vegetation.
