Silang, Cavite- The Cavite Division of the Department of Education recognizes Cleanway Environmental Management Solutions, Inc. as one of its Top 25 Stakeholders in education and community building. Held in the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS), the Agapay 2024 gathered various stakeholders and recognized projects in their respective localities. Cleanway’s efforts for Maguyam Elementary School is part of its 15-year community sustainability program. Since 2008, the school has been a partner of its corporate social responsibility projects that range from school material assistance, construction and cleaning material donations, equipment and mobile phone donations, and implementation of environmental education programs.

Cleanway River Program 2023
Silang, Cavite – November is Environmental Awareness Month! As part of our commitment to the community, Cleanway cleans up Labuyo Creek in Barangay Maguyam, Silang. This body of water traverses the major industrial estates in the locality. In 2019, a trash trap was constructed upstream to manage the solid waste collection. Regular COD and BOD testings are conducted upstream, mid-stream and downstream to monitor the water quality and condition. This year, the company partnered with Rotary E-Club of Edsa Ortigas for the refurbishment of the Trash Trap last July 1, 2023. This device holds up solid waste upstream for easy collection of unwanted wastes from the creek. Rotary provided the Maguyam community with a solution and through the collaboration of private entities, this can replicated in other water streams of the municipality. The project was in coordination with the MENRO of Silang in compliance with DENR directives. Cleanway is a signatory of the Adopt An Estero Program of the DENR-EMB IVA. It received recognition from the regional agency given its commitment and growing partnership with NGOs like the Rotary Club. The company promises to commit itself to the protection of bodies of water and continuously strives to fulfill its pledge to support this worthy cause.

Isabel, Leyte – September is the annual coastal clean-up in the world. With the International Coastal Cleanup Day declared every third Saturday of September of each year, the Philippines joins the world community with Presidential Proclamation No. 244 declaring the entire month of September as National Clean-up Month. The Local Government of Isabel in Leyte Province holds a coastal cleanup and mangrove planting on 20 September 2023. Spearheaded by its Mayor, Hon. Edgardo “Dodo’ Cordeno, and MENRO Chief Almira Villaseran, Cleanaway Philippines Inc. (CPI) actively participates in this project along with several key industries in the locality: Petron Philippines (Leyte), PASAR, PHILPHOS, Grand Terra, HK Imperial, IASCO and PCG Isabel.

Silang, Cavite – Congratulations to the Cleanway Internship Batch 2023. Ten students from Adamson University, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, and Cavite State University-Main Campus finished their required internship hours in the premier hazardous waste treatment plant in the country. Students with academic backgrounds in chemical engineering, chemistry, microbiology, and sanitary engineering are prioritized in the program to be engaged in laboratory work, research, and actual facilitation of wastewater treatment. DENR-EMB’s Adopt-An-Estero Program

New Partnerships with DENR-EMB and Rotary

Tagaytay City – Cleanway renewed its commitment with the DENR-EMB’s Adopt-An-Estero Program. After receiving recognition from the regional agency, Cleanway signed another agreement to take care of Labuyo Creek nearest to the main plant in Silang. For several years, the company has been monitoring and cleaning the water body that passes through several industrial sites. Regular water testing is conducted from its upstream, midstream, and downstream points to ensure effluent quality. In 2018, Cleanway installed a trash trap unit between the upstream and midstream sections to monitor alleged illegal waste disposal. Rotary E-Club of Edsa Ortigas refurbished the old device with a stronger material in July 2023. Since then, the creek has sustained its sound maintenance assuring the community of Maguyam of our intention for a cleaner and greener environment, thanks to our Rotary partner. We also thank the Barangay Council for its support of the program and the Local Government of Silang for its stringent monitoring of our water bodies. We hope that all industries will soon be conscious and concerned for our environment. Explore fruitful partnerships for nature!

Tagaytay City – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) CALABARZON held an Environmental Summit in Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City to recognize the Local Government Units and Industries that excelled and engaged in a commitment to environmental compliance and protection. Cleanway is one of this year’s awardees in recognition of its active participation and dedication to protecting the water body through the Adopt-An-Estero Program of the EMB. For several years, the company has adopted Labuyo Creek and maintained the quality of water passing through its property. The company stays vigilant in assuring its community for water body protection. This year, the company holds a partnership with Rotary E-Club of Edsa Ortigas for the refurbishment of its trash trap for the benefit of Barangay Maguyam.

Cleanway donated hazwaste drums to LGU Silang
Silang, Cavite – In preparation for the coming Philippine Environmental Month this June, Silang will embark in its major waste segregation effort. Along with this, Cleanway donated plastic drums for the barangays dedicated for special wastes. These wastes, such as busted light bulbs, batteries and electronic wastes, are usually mixed with ordinary households or solid wastes. Such effort will reduce possible exposure on hazardous wastes and will be collected, transported, treated and disposed in Cleanway’s main plant in Silang. During the turnover, Mayor Kevin Anarna, Sangguniang Bayan Members and Silang MENRO Chief Engr. Rezza Panes received the donation from Cleanway’s representatives.

The IEC Campaign is conducted with LIDE Environmental Management Council (LEMAC) along with LIDE Management Corporation, PASAR, PHILPHOS, Grand Terra, HK Imperial, IASCO, and Cleanaway Philippines, Inc.; all locators of Leyte Industrial Development Estate (LIDE). The IEC Campaign provides a venue to discuss the locator’s activities and community-building efforts with the various barangays of the Municipality of Isabel.

Lian, Batangas – As part of its annual commitment to the community, Herma Group with its subsidiaries, Herma Corporation, Herma Shipping and Transport Corporation, Flagship Petroleum Carriers, and Cleanway Environmental Management Solutions Inc. started to add 3000 more seedlings in an area allocated for mangroves southwest of Manila. Every year, the group of companies joins together in this environmental mission. With this year’s theme, Puno ng Pag-ibig para sa Kalikasan, officers and employees get their hands dirty as they planted love and hope for nature supporting the rich biodiversity in Sitio Kayreyna, Barangay Lumaniag. The location is a protected mangrove area under the DENR and the LGU of Lian. Since 2018, countless mangroves were planted by academic institutions and private companies. Environmental experts and local people help in maintaining and preserving the shoreline now slowly covered in lush marine vegetation.
